Dr. Elizabeth Luckman is the Senior Researcher in Leadership and Executive Development at the National Center for Professional and Research Ethics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. At the NCPRE, she contributes to the content development of the Leadership Collection and assists in the delivery of leadership programming and training. One of her key objectives is to broaden the impact of the Center.
Elizabeth seeks to help firms and institutions navigate the challenging human dimensions of organizations. She conducts research on leadership, organizational ethics, complex social interaction, and management education, in the pursuit of strengthening the capacity of organizations to create value. She has lectured on the topics of leadership, communication, team-building, negotiation, organizational behavior, and ethics. Her thinking is informed by scholarship from diverse fields, including psychology, anthropology, and philosophy.
In addition to her academic work, Elizabeth cultivated her leadership perspectives during nearly a decade in luxury retailing, working in merchandising, selling, and management. Knowing how to work with all kinds of people to achieve demanding objectives in the for-profit world animates her research, and facilitates its application.
Dr. Luckman holds a PhD in organizational behavior from the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis, an MBA from the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University, and a BA in Classical Civilization and English Literature from Wellesley College. She has lived in Scotland, Indonesia, and nine different states.
