Transforming Challenged Units Annual Conference 2024

NCPRE hosts an annual working conference for identifying and addressing issues in challenged academic units, the annual Transforming Challenged Units Conference. The goal of the conference is for institutional teams to leave with tailored, actionable strategies they can implement, and to provide a space to share information, tools, expertise, and best practices. The conference is the centerpiece activity of a member-based consortium, formerly known as the Consortium for Confronting Challenges in Academic Units and now the Consortium for Transforming Challenged Units.

Each conference is entirely focused on collaborative discussions for solving problems brought by participant teams, with structure and guidance provided by the conference’s experienced team of academic facilitators. These executive academic leaders serve as experts prepared to share their experiences and case studies, and to work with you as you devise a way forward for specific unit challenges.

Participation is by application only, and space is limited to ensure the best quality of expert support.

We accept applications from provosts and deans responsible for academic units that would benefit from strategies to reclaim their departmental mission. We encourage participation from institutions bringing multi-level teams, including provost office, dean, and unit leaders. Only screened delegates participate in these closed meetings, bringing specific institutional challenges for consideration and discussion. Confidentiality is observed.

This year's conference will take place on March 21-22, 2024 at the Big Ten Conference Center in Rosemont, Illinois.
